VWR® Soxhlet Extractor Sets are complete assemblies of high-quality borosilicate 3.3 glass components for continuous solid-liquid extraction. A classic Soxhlet extractor consists of a round-bottom flask (sample solvent reservoir), a Soxhlet body (sample thimble holder with siphon arm), and a water-cooled reflux condenser. As the solvent evaporates, condenses, and siphons back over the solid sample repeatedly, target analytes are efficiently extracted. Applications include fat content determination in food and feed (ISO 6492, AOAC 920.39), pesticide residue extraction from soils and foods, oil content analysis of oilseeds, and polymer additive extraction. Supplied in complete kit form with appropriate glassware joints (NS 29/32 or NS 24/29) and clamp accessories. Also available as modified high-efficiency Soxhlet designs with faster extraction cycles.
